I have been fighting for as long as I can remember—fighting people and situations. As an only child and the eldest, I was often labeled “fearless.” I possessed a keen awareness of the world around me, absorbing everything. I enjoyed spending time with elders, listening to their stories, and learning valuable skills like cooking, sewing, and singing. Fortunately, my grandmother and aunts encouraged me to be myself, even when children were expected to be seen and not heard.

However, one crucial lesson that no one taught me was managing stress and finding happiness in life and within myself. I understand now why—my family, like many others in our community, was often in survival mode, facing a seemingly endless storm.
